Who should attend?

This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

What will you learn?

The content of this course provides basic life saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following:

  • The role of the first aider
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Managing an emergency
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Communication and casualty care Seizures (adult)
  • Bleeding (minor and severe) Shock
  • Burns Unresponsive casualty
  • Choking (adult)
  • Defibrillator pad placement
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond

Assessment:
Written assessment and continuous observation by the trainer.

Certification:
Successful candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for three years.

Using LEGO(R) to increase emotional resilience in SEND children - Saturday 7th December 2019

What is included in the day?

Training agenda:

Part one:

• Understand what autism spectrum disorder and ADHD conditions are from impairment to profile
• Understand how communication impacts our social skills
• The principles of Lego®-based therapy

Part two:

• How to implement your own Lego®-based therapy programme in your education or community setting
• Knowledge and skill to adapt your programme to meet a variety of different needs
• Lego®- based therapy and different approaches (Speech and Language and communication) from different disciplines

Part three:

• Resources to aid successful intervention
• How to assess and evaluate your sessions successfully- Formal, standardised assessment
• How to monitor progress, and create SMART Targets

The cost of the training day is usually £200 per attendee, which will include lunch, refreshments throughout the day and resources to help participants get started. To celebrate the launch of RT Training, we are offering this course at just £75!

Life Story Work - Saturday 30th November & Saturday 14th December - 2 Day Course

2 Day Programme
Aim:
This two day course provides more opportunity for skill development than the one day programme. This course explores the importance and process of completing Life Story Books and how they can be used as a tool to assist children in making transitions into permanent placements.
The aim is to give participants an understanding of what is involved and the confidence and skills compile Life Story Books with Looked After Children.
Course outcomes:
Participants will be offered the opportunity to:
• Understand what is meant by Life Story Book Work.
• Consider the importance of completing this work from the child’s perspective.
• Explore how the work should be planned in a child centred way.
• Understand how to compile a life story book.
• Understand age related life story work.
• Understand the importance of preparation, planning and materials.
• Gain sources of information.
• Identify the different approaches to life story work.
• Identify the different types of loss.
• Understand different types of separation and changes.
• Understand Life story work and beyond.
