Children in Need Reviewing Officer
£38 – £40 per hour
This Post is required to work with Children in Need Reviewing Officer to undertake short term work to effect case closures, particularly at the point of case transfers.
To hold an allocated case load which will include a range of child in need, child protection and looked after children, dependent on experience. To carry out a range of tasks and interventions to benefit the welfare of the child.
Designation of Post and Position within Departmental Structure
Social Workers report to either a Consultant Practitioner or Assistant Team Manager across the children’s social care service
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Undertake assessments and where appropriate arrange accommodation for children and young people.
To work within BFfC policy procedures and good practice guidelines in order to meet most effectively the needs of the children and families allocated to you.
To work with children and young people, families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, engender change, enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to service planning.
To develop and maintain positive working relationships with service users and other professionals
To keep up-to-date with contemporary issues in children’s social work including legislation, evidence based practice and to attend relevant training and development opportunities.
To liaise with colleagues in own, other directorates and external agencies in order to gather information relevant to assessment and care planning activities, jointly plan and deliver interventions
Maintain and update case notes and other records, write reports as required; if required, give evidence in court in relation to care proceedings.
Participate in planning/reviewing the cases of children in care; supervise fostering/adoption arrangements.
To act as lead professional with regards to Core groups etc. Lead and monitor multiagency actions and objectives.
When working with families, to recognise, monitor and assess risk. To escalate risk to supervisors in a timely manner to plan mitigating actions.
